First Grade
First-Grade Components
Students learn new concepts, skills, vocabulary, and story background in the Student Books, apply them to decodable selections in the Reader, and then return to the Student Books to check comprehension and practice skills. The Teacher’s Guides, Libraries, and Teacher Resources support students every step of the way in their journey toward becoming independent readers.

LEVEL 3: Adventures of the Superkids
REVIEW BOOKS
The Superkids program has two sets of review materials to choose from, each designed to take about the first three weeks of first grade. Superkids’ Summer is intended for students who used only Meet the Superkids in kindergarten. Welcome Back, Superkids! is intended for students who did not use Superkids in kindergarten, or who used all of Meet the Superkids and all or most of Superkids’ Club in kindergarten. The review materials refresh students’ skills while giving teachers an easy way to assess children’s skill development.

This consumable book is intended for students who used only Meet the Superkids in kindergarten. This review is designed to take about the first three weeks of first grade. Each child needs one Student book.

In these 6 consumable books, students continue to develop their decoding and encoding skills with phonetically controlled vocabulary. The first book includes a “super secret” surprise! Each child needs one set of Student Books.
ADVENTURES OF THE SUPERKIDS STUDENT READER
In first grade, each child gets a nonconsumable Reader in addition to a set of Student Books. The Reader has decodable stories that help children become confident and engaged readers. Each child needs one Reader.

The adventures of the Superkids continue in these 3 consumable books. By the end of Level 4, students are independent and thoughtful readers, able to read and spell all 220 of the Dolch Basic Words and hundreds of other words. Each child needs one set of Student Books.
MORE ADVENTURES OF THE SUPERKIDS STUDENT READER
Children continue to apply what they learn in the Student Books to the decodable selections in the nonconsumable Reader. Each child needs one Reader.

It demonstrates the phonics and structural analysis skills taught in Level 3, Adventures of the Superkids, and Level 4, More Adventures of the Superkids. In these levels, children learn about the variability of letter-sounds associations and to use word structure and patterns to decode words. Also included is a 24'' x 18'' pad of Ice Cream Chart Paper designed to be attached to the easel of the big book. The pad has 70 sheets of paper.
